The "Casa dos Avós", my grandparents' house, retains the exact same layout as it did when I was a child: two double rooms (though each with an en suite bathroom now), a kitchen and a large sitting room. On the easternmost end of the property, the sitting room opens up to a courtyard where, in the summer, we would all sit down for lunch. This then leads on to an olive grove, containing a stone granite water tank where we would often bathe, as children. Facing the south-eastern side, is the courtyard which is shared with the remaining houses in the "Quinta do Santinho". From there, one can see the garden and the old waterwheel.

The bathrooms are all equipped with showers (one of them has a bath), bath towels and shower gel. The kitchen too, is fitted with modern appliances designed to meet guests' comfort standards. It has a dishwasher, a fridge, a micro-wave, an electric hob, an oven, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, plates, mugs, cutlery and even an outdoor grill for barbecues on hot, summer days.

The kitchen also opens on to the same patio and olive grove as the sitting room.
